really ready?

I don't peruse Rodney Hide's blog very often, for reasons previously covered, but today I wandered over and noticed that Hide claims in this post that Act is "geared up and ready to go" for any early election the PM might call.

Really?

Then why does their Party List page still feature the 2002 Party List (star attraction, the now non-hotlinked Donna Awatere Huata)?

And is Kenneth Wang really running in two electorates? (Maybe Mr Abaford could give him some advice)

I look forward to the announcement of the Act list - could be quite interesting fallout in the battle for those top spots...

Why stop at two?

hahaha, don't be so seditious.

yes Span it will be interesting to see the list selection, I will look on with interest as I expect there will be a lot of pressure at the top for a few places, if any, at this point in time.

I understand they are in the middle of polling their members for list ranking preferences.

so does looking on mean you are no longer involved GPJ?

money can only buy you so much readiness, in terms of internal democratic processes which take time. it must be hard to rev members up in this kind of situation though - quite different from the Alliance in 2002, we were fighting for our survival but with hope and the righteous energy garnered from having been wronged.

how far along is National with their processes? Not a whimper about their List yet...

I resigned from employment with ACT about a year ago, haven't been a member for about two.
A difficult decision but had achieved all I was going to, was glad to have been manager at the time of 2002 election, ACTs highest party vote.
Left with no burning bridges, met many interesting people and learnt alot, but the private sector is able to offer about twice as much.

hmmm, so you said in another comment to another post that you were active at an electorate level, care to share which party and/or which electorate GPJ?

You are very attentive, although I am hardly active, more attending a couple of electorate events and offering the odd strategic comment. I have little spare time for politics with daughter, fiance, sport, social life and work.

You should be able to guess the party, considering the many years I spent on the mainstream centre right, vying for that centre support. Back to where I started in my first year at varsity in 1982 (now thats a giveaway, what parties were around then?).

Our home is in Tamaki, where i am also involved as a member of citizens and ratepayers.

see that didn't make any sense AL when it just came through to my email out of context, but now I can sit back and admire your punning skills in their full glory :-P
