phew, first hurdle jumped with a bit of room to spare
theme music: i will survive
unfortunately i missed listening to the actual vote because somebody (yes you!) talked over the radio, so it was a somewhat nervous 30 minutes of waiting until National Radio told me. Sixty six votes to fifty is good, but it will be hard to retain that majority as the campaign heats up and the pressure goes on.
As Just Left has pointed out, those Labour MPs who voted against it should be ashamed, they are voting against clear party policy. While I do realise that caucus policy and party policy are different things in Labour, policy that is campaigned on at the election is both, and should be upheld by both. Let's hope they come to their senses, as they have a chance to redeem themselves down the track.
