A big bouquet

To Idiot/Savant for his persistence and good works over the crime of sedition.

He has two posts on the Law Commission's recommendation to repeal sedition from the Crimes Act, Repealing sedition and Sedition: reactions. I hope he takes significant time over the long weekend to pat himself on the back for a job well done (if not yet over).

All of this bodes interesting things for Tim Selwyn, and I look forward to his next letter to Bomber at Tumeke and what that might contain. If the crime you were found guilty of is repealed do you have a favourable case for pardon? Selwyn would continue in prison anyway due to other convictions, of course.

It's nowhere near over yet - the government has still to decide whether they will adopt the lawCom's recommendation (but if they don't, I'll smear them with Bob Semple - and quite rightly too). But if they do go for it, then the numbers look good for repeal.

I've already decided that if a bill is introduced, I'll submit in person on it, and if it passes, buy a large bottle of something bubbly.

As for pardons, there was a project in Montana IIRC to retrospectively pardon everyone convicted of sedition during WWI. maybe we need the same thing here?
